Tomodachi Calling Charity This charity web-shop for the victims of the disaster in Japan Tomodachi Calling was co-founded by SJCC Alumnus Alexandre Prestele, who says that against the backdrop of the unthinkable catastrophes that struck Japan, he and his friends could not just sit around doing nothing. He continues, "so instead of hoping and waiting, we decided to join forces and to act and contribute. We deeply believe that the talents and skills of creatives can mobilize funds for the ones in need in north-eastern Japan!"
The Tomodachi Calling charity web-shop is organized by a group of international friends (Japanese, German, French, Dutch, Swiss). They are asking famous and less renowned creatives to contribute a design that will be used for t-shirts and other objects (mugs, buttons, iphone-cases etc.). All the profits will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross.

SJCC Alumni Japan Gate - Interactive Exchange 2010
Attracting around 50 participants the Japan Gate event kicked off a dialogue between different Swiss-Japanese organisations, which led to a more intensive cooperation in the close future. The event was featured in the Students.ch Magazin and in the Science-Asia Newsletter Japan #84. The newsletter described Japan Gate as follows:
"The first edition of the Japan Gate Seminar was successfully held with around 50 young professionals participating in Zurich. The one-day seminar touched upon topics like working in Japan and the current employment situation in Japan. Furthermore, Japan Gate offered a platform for discussion between the young professionals planning to work in Japan and returnees of the SJCC Scholarship Fund in various panel discussions and a live video session with the Science & Technology Office Tokyo of the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan. The event was organized by the SJCC Alumni Organization and was supported by the Swiss-Japanese Chamber of Commerce, the University of Zurich and the Hosei University."
See you at the next edition of Japan Gate!
