Scholarship Fund
The Scholarship Fund represents an important long-term activity of the Swiss-Japanese
Chamber of Commerce. The fund was established for the purpose of encouraging
and supporting young Swiss residents in their efforts to learn more about Japan,
its culture, language, and social and business environments.
The Fund offers financial and other pertinent assistance to qualified students,
graduates and professionals who are willing to add “a Japan Year” to
their education. The purpose of this commitment ist for students to further
improve their Japanese language skills during a minimum three-months intensive
language training (including the study of kanji) and to gain in-depth experience
of working and living with Japanese colleagues through internships of nine
or more months in Japanese or international companies.
Successful candidates
will have a background in business administration, economics, engineering,
informatics, international law or similar areas of study. In addition,
they will have already acquired a solid basic knowledge of spoken and written
Japanese (hiragana, katakana and approximately 200 kanji) before departing
for Japan.
The Chamber strongly believes that such an extensive experience of
the Japanese way of life will have lasting benefits for both the participants
in the scholarship
program as well as their Japanese host companies. The high-level education
of the scholarship recipients, their eagerness to learn as well as to share
knowledge and their motivation to adapt and communicate will help build bridges
and better understanding between the two cultures. These efforts will make
lasting contributions toward the development of closer economic and cultural
relations between Japan and Switzerland, which ist the ultimate objective of
the Swiss-Japanese Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber invites interested and qualified
individuals to submit their enquiries and applications to:
