"How to Build a New Biotechnology Company: The Importance of Japan”

Following the formal business of the AGM, our guest speaker, Jean-Paul Clozel, CEO of Idorsia, will address members and guests of the SJCC with a keynote speech.

Biotechnology Pioneer Jean-Paul Clozel sold his biotech firm Actelion in 2017 to Johnson & Johnson for USD 30 billion. Subsequently, he founded Idorsia which develops drugs to treat insomnia, lupus, and other diseases.

About the Guest Speaker:

Jean-Paul Clozel, CEO of Idorsia

Professional background: Practicing cardiologist, 1980–1985. Head of Drug Discovery Group in the Cardiovascular Department of F. Hoffmann-La Roche, 1985–1997. Founder and CEO of Actelion 1999-2017. Joined Idorsia as CEO when the company was established in June 2017.

Education: Medical degree in France; further training in pharmacology and physiology at the University of Montreal, Canada, and the University of California, San Francisco, US.
