Dinner with Mr. Masakazu Nakamura, CEO of Sunstar

“Globalization of the Sunstar Group and the role of Switzerland”

Mr. Masakazu Nakamura is Chairman of the Board and CEO of Sunstar Suisse S.A., Sunstar’s World Headquarters. He started out as a chemical research employee in the product development unit of Sunstar in Japan before the company offered him the opportunity to study dentistry at Buffalo in New York. After his studies, he first returned to Japan and was assigned as Deputy Director of International Business Division. He later went back to the USA, where he took over as head of the Sunstar subsidiary in Chicago. In 2002, he was appointed as Chief Human Resources Officer of Sunstar Group and then promoted to CEO. He’s been living in Switzerland since 2007.

Sunstar is a global Oral Care/Health & Beauty, as well as Chemicals and Motorcycle Parts conglomerate with affiliates in 30 countries. Its main businesses are the development, manufacturing and sale of oral care products (toothpastes, toothbrushes and dental rinses) and cosmetics (hair/skin care products) as well as of chemicals (building materials and automotive) and motorcycle parts (sprockets and braking disks). In recent years it has been expanding into the area of human holistic health products.

In 2007, Sunstar delisted from the Osaka Securities Exchange via a management and employees share buyout and transferred the head office functions to Switzerland.
