Guest Speaker: 

Etsuro Honda (61), a former Finance Ministry bureaucrat who has known Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for decades is said to be “one of the most influential economic policy advisors of the Abe administration“. According to Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga he “provided recommendations regarding international monetary policy and the Abenomics economics and fiscal policy in various aspects”.

In March 2016 Mr. Honda has been appointed to become Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Switzerland. After serving as Special Advisor to the Cabinet during the G7 Summit in Japan in May, he presented his credentials in Berne to the President of the Swiss Confederation, Johann Schneider-Ammann, in June 2016.
