Brexit is coming closer – and many questions remain open:

  • How does the British public think about the situation now?
  • How do foreign companies in the UK, notably the Japanese ones, react?
  • How should Brexit be seen in the broader context of rising nationalism and economic protectionism?

These and other related questions will be discussed at the event, completed with detailed information of an insider who has been involved with British and European politics for decades.

Keynote Speaker: Giampiero Alhadeff

Giampiero Alhadeff is currently Vice-President and formerly National Chair of the UK Labour Movement for Europe, campaigning for the UK to remain a member of the EU or failing that to retain the strongest possible links with the Union.

Previously he was head of office of the UK Labour Delegation to the European Parliament and before that he was the founder and leader of SOLIDAR, an EU level NGO, that campaigned for social rights and a fair global trading system. In this capacity he was a member of the EU delegation to a number of WTO Summits.

Mr. Alhadeff has been a director or a trustee of a number of UK national, local and EU level foundations. He has been involved with Sunstar Group in different capacities since 1994 and is a frequent visitor to Japan.
During his 40-year career he has run London’s emergency centre for drug users, a coffee-bar project helping Hells Angels, and an experimental school for children with emotional and social difficulties.
He is a keen cook, rides a motorbike in London and is passionate about boating. He speaks four European languages fluently and is a keen student of Japanese and Greek. He now lives in London and Greece
