Lunch & Learn: Fukuoka Prefecture

The purpose of this first Lunch & Learn series is to present, each time, a Japanese prefecture or region. 

Fukuoka prefecture is located on the northern shore of the Japanese island of Kyushu. Fukuoka city, the capital of the prefecture, and has long been considered the gateway to Japan, as it is the nearest point among the country’s main islands to the Asian mainland. In July 2011, Fukuoka city surpassed the population of Kyoto. 

Our special guest speaker is Joëlle Sambuc-Bloise PhD, who lectures at the faculty of law at Seinan University. She also co-founded IKKYU G.K. a Japanese company dedicated to exporting green tea from the Kyushu area,
