Parliamentary Group Meets Ambassador of Japan in the Federal Palace

On 12 December, the Ambassador of Japan paid a courtesy visit to the Parliamentary Friendship Group Switzerland-Japan. The high-level delegation from the Japanese Embassy was received by the President of the Group, National Councillor Elisabeth Schneider-Schneiter and the Vice President, Thierry Burkart, Member of the Council of States. The visit to the Parliament Building, better known as Federal Palace, also allowed to discuss a wide range of bilateral and global topics.

Background: The Parliamentary Group Switzerland-Japan (スイス日本友好議員連盟) was founded at the end of the anniversary year 2014, when 150 years of bilateral diplomatic relations were celebrated. Since then, the office of the SJCC acts as secretariat of the group. The counterpart in Japan is the Japan-Switzerland Parliamentary League of Friendship from the Japanese House of Representatives that exists since 1988.
